A New Twist...

...on a classic idea.

The new year is thisclose and it'll be about that time again when people start dusting off those resolutions from last year.  There's no better time to renew your mind, body and soul than a new year, a "blank slate".

But why wait?

This was the question asked of me by my friend, Steph.  She proposed a 30 Day Challenge, where we try to do something every day for the next month.  She said something that really resonated with me.

"...it helps us finish 2012 with a bang and start off 2013 nicely."

So, why wait for a new year to change your life, a day at a time? It's a great way to motivate and push yourself and create a good momentum for the coming year.  I chose to:

  1. Take a picture a day
  2. Learn about a topic -- Photography
  3. Keep a journal
These three were related to each other enough that I could do all relatively easily.  So here I am, back from a long day's work, getting a head start on my challenge.  2013, I'll see you in a month.  In the meantime, I'll be spending some QT with 2012.

Bicycle? Horse?

I suppose the 659-day long gap between my last post and this one should be a testament to how much more living I was doing.  Truth be told...I was.  It has been such a defining period of time in my life, in both good and bad ways.

Between now and then, I've...

...lost, made, strengthened friendships...

...struggled professionally, tasted sweet success...

...been prideful, tasted humility...

...loved, lost, and loved once more...

Most importantly, I've finally found my footing.  It's taken me a long time and I'm nowhere near the finish line but at least I'm running the right race.  I'm excited about where I'm going and I can't wait to get there, but at the same time, I want to revel in all the in-betweens, soak up the here and theres.  I guess I'd just like to be able to reminisce somewhere down the line, so I've decided to give this another go, this time without the gimmicks, without the catchphrases, without the censoring...just me.

Plainly and simply,

Me.
