Another one! The National Weather Service aka the Bearers of Bad News has forecast yet
another blizzard heading my way for this Tuesday/Wednesday. Oy.
I've been asked why all the intense hatred towards snow? I've even received some snarky remarks about how I should be used to all this snow, after all, *scoff*, I grew up in Canada, and don't you all live in igloos anyway? *Guffaws*
Okay. The root of my snow disdain is the sheer danger of it. People tend to underestimate just how dangerous it is to drive in snow. We have cocky SUV and truck drivers going regular speed while there's already inches of snow or slush or ice on the ground. Yes, we get it, you're big and you can handle it, but have you thought about those people in the tinier, 2-wheel-drive vehicles? They need to go slower and many get quite frightened and intimidated by the road monsters speeding on by. Also, they don't have quite as good traction so what if they spin out of control and you try and stop but it's too late? And don't get on my ass about how I need to man up and be more careful because I drive a 2-wheel drive Sedan because I drive one of those SUV's as well,
especially when it snows.
Honestly, people, in conditions such as the ones we experienced up here in the Northeast and Midatlantic region, you need to take extra caution! Also, the area in which I live doesn't get the best snow plowing service, so I have to deal with ice and slush days after a snowfall.
So, there folks. That's why I hate it. I've said it before, when you have nowhere to go, yes snow is peaceful and calming and all sorts of amazing for a snowball fight. It's just when you have to get behind the wheel is when I grumble and groan. I'm grumbling and groaning now as I repeatedly check updates on Accuweather, hoping against all hope that the winds and snow clouds have shifted and done disappeared and we can expect sunny skies for the next few forevers. I don't know why I do this to myself.
And no. They DON'T live in igloos in Canada.
MISSION: ACCOMPLISHED
